李炯奎教授受邀在韓國、美國、加拿大及臺灣舉辦10場的個展；並參加多達400場次的韓國國內及國際性的聯展。

同時也在重要學術期刊發表超過30篇論文。

現職為韓國漢陽大學珠寶時尚設計系教授，以及韓國工藝設計協會主席。

他是前韓國設計展覽評審，也獲韓國住宅公社環境雕塑、Samshin國際鑽石設計獎、LG 國際珠寶設計獎、優良設計獎、首爾工藝獎、韓國工藝獎、京畿道優良設計博覽會、韓國珠寶設計協會國際珠寶獎、韓國珠寶產業教育研究協會獎、KBS藝術獎、Yong In 3.1獨立運動紀念碑獎、首爾市公共設計獎，以及SH公共複合住宅設施設計獎。

2011年在韓國設計展中榮獲韓國總理獎和首席設計獎。

2009與2010年設計的珠寶在知識經濟部榮獲優秀設計獎，同時也從韓國設計推廣學院獲獎，並榮獲韓國數位設計理事會卓越設計師獎項。

2012年，他再獲得韓國珠寶設計協會的年度首席獎，以及國際教育協會的世界和平獎。

｜書序  Preface of Coexistence-Hyung Kyu Lee Metal Craft｜

 

聽見隱藏的空間－共存

 

    臺南市政府文化局致力與國際藝術接軌，搭建藝術交流的橋樑。本局總爺藝文中心除了公開徵選國際藝術家駐村，亦邀請世界知名藝術家舉辦創作展覽，建構國內外藝術家交流、觀摩與學習的平台。長此以往，藝術種子在地紮根，工藝美學新地標也將更顯光輝。

    本次邀請國際著名金工創作藝術家李炯奎先生，不僅是韓國知名設計評審，在金屬工藝、住宅公社環境雕塑、工藝設計、珠寶設計、紀念碑設計、公共設計等諸多領域也備受肯定，更獲得國際知名鑽石設計獎，其作品類型充滿多樣化與設計能量，展現獨特的美感。

    在金屬工藝創作技法上，不僅以傳統技術進行創作，更以現代科技如電腦繪圖、水刀切割、3D列印等提升創作能量。其作品跳脫傳統設計概念的束縛，將隱藏空間以嵌入式技法讓聲音得以展現內部構造，運用立體手法讓珠寶設計展現更多的「可聽性」，獨特的詮釋方式讓珠寶不僅是珠寶，而是移動可聽的藝術品。

    李炯奎先生的創作理念涵蓋人們對於生活與外界的互動性，體會人們對於生活中平衡與和諧的渴望，從而將創作由外而內來追求隱藏其中的空間，試圖將「內與外」的好壞、光明與黑暗等相對生活理念，達到平衡與和諧「共存」的狀態，這是藝術家對於生活細膩的觀察，並試圖喚醒大眾對於潛藏空間的重視，從而審視內在與外在相對的和諧共存。

    李炯奎先生詮釋空間獨特的手法，從可視空間到可聽空間具體而微，讓人充滿想像，更令人驚豔作品的精巧，體現藝術家強大的專注力與技巧。透過作品在隱藏空間中聽見藝術家內在所要表達的概念，以及對生活的關心，是本次創作最值得讓人玩味之處。

Listen to the hidden space—coexistence

 

    The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government has been dedicated in promoting international art exchanges and collaborations. Tsung Yeh Arts and Cultural Center presents a platform where artists from all over the world meet, create, and interchange ideas. AIR programs are regularly launchedfor open calls to select artists. Exhibitions of international renowned artists are also frequently held in this prominent landmark. Seeds of art have taken roots here flourishing and continued growing.

    Mr. Hyung Kyu Lee, the highly recognized metal craft artist worldwide, is not only a reputed judge for designs in Korea but also an established artist in various fields, including metal craft, environmental sculpture for national housing, craft designs, jewelry design, monument design, and public designs. He has been the winner of international diamond design award. Unique and beautiful, his creations are diverse in forms and so powerful that always sending strong messages.

    Hyung Kyu Lee skillfully employs traditional as well as modern metal techniques. Computer systems like a water jet or 3D printer are used to increase accuracy. Unconstrained by conventional concepts, he presents the hidden spaceand inner beauty through inserting silver beads into his works. The audience can imagine the embossed structure inside jewelry by“listening” to the sounds. What he designs are not just pieces of jewelry but delicate artworks allowed to be worn and brought around.

    Mr. Lee has focused on the relationship between mutually opposing subjects including life of people and outsiders. Appreciating human’s desire to pursue balance and harmony of life, he endeavors to reveal the coexistence of inside and outside orbrightness and darknessby demonstrating the inner space instead of just showcasing the surface of his works. His sophisticated observation on life arouses people’s awareness of invisible beauty and the balance between the contrasts.

    From visible to audible, Mr. Lee’s distinctive approach to interpret space opens up our imagination. Behind those exquisite jewelry is his consistent devotion and profession. His care about life and how he express himself through turning inside out make one ponder after visiting the exhibition.
