As the year 2020 arrives, the 50th issue of Made in Tainan hits the shelves.

In this issue, we look at the innovations of artisans. Chien-Min Fang, the founder of PIPILALA, shares how he developed the brand-new 3D techniques based on traditional leather goods craftsmanship. Yung-Wang Chang, bamboo weaving artisan from Longci, recounts the stories of the once prosperous bamboo weaving industry and how he continues to create and pass on the skills. Yung-Chi Lan, lantern artisan, tells us his personal journey from an aggressive youngster to the master craftsman who learned his place in the artistic lantern making arena.

This year, we will take you to discover more hidden gems in the alleyways of Tainan. From Minzu Road, turn into Lane 158, Section 2 of Zhongyi Road. This historic area used to be called Fanshuchi, or Sweet Potato Hill. Today, drawn by the cultural atmosphere, several unique shops are opened here. We invite you to follow the map, take a stroll around Fanshuchi and savor its serenity.

Made in Tainan is now on Instagram and Facebook. Fifty issues in, we continue to show you what Tainan has to offer, both online and on paper.
